History

What is the purpose of AITP

The purpose of AITP is to provide a vehicle for its members to further their knowledge of the IS field through informational sessions, workshops, seminars, and networking.

Additionally AITP's student chapters provide its members with information relative to their academic institution. Students can use resources available to their student chapter to plan academic schedules, share resources, and to find employment assistance.

What is the history of AITP

AITP was previously titled DPMA. DPMA was an acronym for the Data Processing Management Association. In early 1996 the national chapter decided to rename the organization to be more representative of the current industry, upgrade the image of the association, and to meet the changing responsibilities of our profession and studies. DPMA was removed on January 1, 1997 as the flag title of the association and replaced with The Association of Information Technology Professionals - AITP.
