The San Diego State University Chapter of Association of Information Technology Professionals provides members with an opportunity to also participate in committees and social events. To study equipment related to Information Technology.&lt;br /&gt;D. To disseminate generally, by all appropriate means, all fundamentally sound Information Technology principles and methods.&lt;br /&gt;E. To supply to its members information of the most current methods, and assist them in solving their individual problems.&lt;br /&gt;F. To foster among students a better understanding of the vital business role of Information technology, the proper relationship of Information technology to management and the necessity for a professional attitude among Information Technology Professionals in their approach to an understanding and application of the principles underlying the science of Information Technology.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Article V - Membership&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 1&lt;/b&gt;: Student Chapter AITP membership shall be granted to any full-time or part-time student who is a candidate for a degree program at San Diego State University in Information Decision Systems or a degree consistent with the desire to further explore the field of Information Technology.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 2&lt;/b&gt;: Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected officer positions may not be limited on the basis of race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, color, age, gender, marital status, citizenship, sexual orientation, or disability and no rules or policies shall discriminate on any of these grounds&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 3&lt;/b&gt;: Applications for membership may be rejected only for failure to comply with the requirements set forth in these bylaws or failure to comply with additional requirements which may be imposed by the administration of the Business College or San Diego State University.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 4&lt;/b&gt;: The Student Chapter Officers shall have the power to suspend or expel any member for conduct considered to be contrary to the best interests of the Student Chapter. Removal is to occur only after the member in question has been notified of his/ her offense. When the member is notified, the offense shall be reported immediately to the AITP President and advisor. Below is the corrective action taken:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;First Offense&lt;/b&gt; - Written reprimand, copy sent to advisors. Officers and advisor(s) must meet within one week from the time the offense is reported to determine the best course of action. If it can be determined that the member acted in a negligent or malicious manner towards the club, the members, the Information &amp;amp; Decision Systems faculty and Community, the member may be removed by a 2/3 majority vote from the officers. Advisors must approve that the action to remove the student reflects the principles fostered by the AITP bylaws.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Second Offense&lt;/b&gt; - Written reprimand, copy sent to advisors. Officer and advisors(s) vote to dismiss the member. The member is to be removed by a 2/3 majority vote.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Third Offense - &lt;/b&gt;The member will be notified, in writing, that he/she is no longer welcome in AITP and is no longer a member. The member will be told not to attend anymore AITP related functions or meetings. The national AITP affiliation will cease to exist with members who are dismissed.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; min-height: 15px&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; min-height: 15px&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Article VI - Governing Body&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 1&lt;/b&gt;: AITP Student Chapter has the right to self governance and the responsibility for governing the student chapter is vested in an elected President and elected Chapter Officers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 2&lt;/b&gt;: The President is elected at the close of each semester for tenure of the coming year or semester by the San Diego State University Student Chapter of Association of Information Technology Professionals members. The President may serve a year term as long as they meet the membership requirements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a: The President may only be selected from the existing officers of previous AITP officers unless there are no returning officers.&lt;br /&gt;b: If there are no returning officers, members retaining valid membership for at least one semester that have demonstrated involvement in AITP may be elected into the position.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 3&lt;/b&gt;: The Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Marketing, Vice President of Alumni Relations, Vice President of Professional Development, Social Events Coordinator, Executive Assistant, or the Webmaster submit applications and then are selected through interview with existing club officers.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 5px; margin-left: 0px; text-align: center; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Article VII – Officer Elections and Officer Duties&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 1: Elected Officers&lt;/b&gt; – The elected and required officers of this chapter shall be the President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Marketing, Vice President of Alumni Relations, Vice President of Professional Development, Social Events Coordinator, Executive Assistant, and the Webmaster.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 2: Qualifications for Office&lt;/b&gt; – In order to be nominated, elected or appointed to office, a member must be active members, show an interest in the office, and serve at least a one semester term. Officers desiring to serve in a one-year capacity will be given priority over one-semester nominations and services. All AITP officers must have a declared IDS major; GPA of 2.0 or higher, at least 5 hours a week to work on AITP organizational issues, completed IDS 306 and at least 60 hours in the program of study. All AITP officers shall be in good standing with AITP (i.e.: fees paid in full).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a: Should a vacancy occur in any office, it shall be filled by special election of the AITP members or by appointment by the faculty advisors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b: Officers not filling their specified duties and commitments will suffer the following consequences:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;First Offense&lt;/b&gt;- Written reprimand&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Second Offense&lt;/b&gt;- Written reprimand and copies of both the first and second reprimand sent to student club advisor. Review for dismissal by the officer team. A 2/3 majority is needed to remove an officer. This decision is to be communicated to the club advisor before removal to insure the decision is in accordance with AITP bylaws.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Third Offense&lt;/b&gt;- Written reprimand and immediate dismissal by a 2/3 majority vote of remaining officers. This group of officers will NOT include the offending officer(s). This decision must be communicated to the advisor(s) before removal to insure the decision is in accordance with AITP bylaws. These consequences apply to all offenses of all types. The offenses need not be related to one another in any manner. If the offenses are related to one another, the officer(s) will be removed after the second offense. If the offenses are unrelated, officers may vote to remove the officer(s) after the second offense or allow the officer(s) another chance. If another chance is granted, the offending officer(s) will be immediately removed from office if a third offense occurs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c: In cases of gross negligence on part of any officer, a quorum of officers reserve the right to dismiss the officer’s standing with AITP. Consultation with the student club advisor shall take place before an action is taken.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;d: In case of criminal offense on part of any officer, quorums of officers reserve the right to dismiss the officer standing with AITP and remove the AITP National Membership standing. Additionally, quorum reserves the right to make further demands upon the officer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 3: Term of Office&lt;/b&gt; – All elected officers shall hold office for a period of one semester except for the President and Vice President of Finance, who will hold the position for one year.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 4: Notification of Elections&lt;/b&gt; – All members in good standing shall be notified of the date, time, and place for holding the election of officers, at least 10 days prior to the date of election.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; margin: 0px&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 5: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;PRESIDENT&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skills: Very motivated. Ability to coordinate, organize, and plan. Ability to write and speak professionally, maintain control, be responsible and dependable. Must be able to separate personal interests from club interests and represent the greater good of the club in all decisions. Must take responsibility for actions that impact the club. It is essential that this person take on the main leadership role as well as delegation to other officers and general members. This person must listen well to everyone and consider all concerns when making major club decisions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: To serve the AITP organization, officers, and members. Maintain a close line of communication with the other VPs in the AITP organization. Administer action items to Vice Presidents and motivate VPs to accomplish their tasks/responsibilities. Responsible for delegating and/or accomplishing responsibilities of any officer in his/her absence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 6: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skills: Very motivated. Ability to coordinate, organize, and take charge in the absence of the President. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; margin: 0px&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: Like the President, the Executive Assistant also maintains a close line of communication with the other VPs in the AITP organization. Administer action items to Vice Presidents and motivate VP’s to accomplish their tasks/responsibilities. Delegates and/or accomplish responsibilities of any officer in his/her absence. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 7: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skills: Ability to organize and plan. Be creative and dependable. Must be a salesperson and very motivated. Will need basic accounting knowledge. Be honest, responsible and organized.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: Keep ongoing records of financial status. Involves reimbursing officers once a week for any pre-approved purchases made. Reimbursement requires a receipt that is labeled. Using the appropriate form, these receipts will be submitted to the appropriate officer in the Associated Business Club in the Business office for approval or reimbursement. Further responsibilities include balancing the AITP checkbook, depositing checks, and supervising/motivating the Sponsorship Officer. Create funding events to raise income for the needs of the club. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 12px; margin-left: 0px; font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 8: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;VICE PRESIDENT OF MEMBERSHIP&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skills: Must be personable, organized, professional and self-motivated. MUST have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work well on a team. Must be flexible and a hard worker.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: To organize a strategy for recruiting more members. This includes organizing club days, setting a goal for the number of members recruited, continuously recruiting new members, mailing membership applications to the national chapter, and ensuring that membership applications are available.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 9: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/b&gt;Skills: Must be creative, dependable, organized and self-motivated. MUST have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work well on a team. Will need basic marketing knowledge and skills in multimedia design.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: The Vice President of Marketing will work closely with the Vice President of Membership to implement a strategy for recruiting more members. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Must conduct self professionally.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: Arranging guest speakers for general membership meetings, and professional development workshops. Further responsibilities include confirmation of appearance a week in advance, and mailing a parking permit to all attending speakers for each meeting at least a week in advance. A follow letter should be mailed out electronically within one week after the meeting. Also responsible for setting up media technology thirty (30) minutes prior to and after each general membership meeting. If refreshments or beverages are required for the meeting, this person shall purchase, set up, and break down the refreshments.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 12: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;SOCIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR&lt;/b&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Skills: Must be creative, organized, and able to work well with a team and independently. This person must have the ability to listen well to other people and perform in a way that represents the greater good of the group. Must be responsible and reliable. Must be professional and able to speak well with management and people within the community. Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;text-decoration: underline&quot;&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/span&gt;: The Social Events Coordinator will research, organize, and follow through to completion social events for the organization--keeping in mind the financial capabilities of its members. The Coordinator will work in conjunction with the VP of Marketing in getting the word out about the planned events and will also work with the VP of Finance in planning events which may need a cash outlay or be budgeted for a later date.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; margin: 0px&quot;&gt;&lt;b&gt;Section 13: Skills and Duties of the&lt;/b&gt; &lt;b&gt;EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style=&quot;font: normal normal normal 12px/normal &#039;Times New Roman&#039;; margin: 0px&quot;&gt;Skills: Ability to write well and type or use a word processor.
