 <title>5 IT skills that won&#039;t boost your salary</title>

Someone emailed me a very intresting article from InfoWorld I thought I&#039;d share with everyone.
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
It turns out the 5 least valued IT skills are:
&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Knowing HTML&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Legacy Programming languages - Cobol, Fortran, PowerBuilder&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Netware&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;Non-IP Network Protocols&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;PC Tech Support&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
The artice suggests that having these skills aren&#039;t likely to justify increased salaries or wages.  This maybe because the skills are no longer valuable or they are becoming considered more fundamenal.  &lt;br /&gt;

The SDSU College of Business is having an undergraduate career fair on Monday, March 10th from 10am-2pm in Montezuma Hall. This career fair is different than the ones you normally would see on Centennial Walkway-- it is RSVP only and space is limited!! To prepare you for this event, Career Services is offering two resume critique workshops sponsored by Accountants, Inc. that is open to all business majors. They will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 2pm and Tuesday, March 4th at 4pm and both events are at the Career Services office in SSE-1200.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Steve Ross, SDSU&#039;s Executive in Residence, will be holding a seminar on &amp;quot;Interview Tips &amp;amp; Techniques for SDSU Business Students That Get Results&amp;quot; to prepare you for this event as well. Steve Ross is an SDSU alumni who became an executive committee member and lead portfolio manager for Nicholas Applegate, an asset management firm, and he has been seen in CNN FN, USA Today and Investor&#039;s Business Daily. This event will be held on both Wednesday, March 5th at 2pm and Thursday, March 6th at 5pm in SSE-1200.

 <title>Thank You Mark Shulzen</title>

Have you ever wondered what it&#039;s like to be a CIO (Chief Information Officer)?  Well you can ask Mark Shulzen.  Mark has taken time out of his busy schedule to spend some time with AITP. He will be a guest speaker at our &lt;a href=&quot;/event/content/2007/november/1/guest-speakers&quot;&gt;professional event&lt;/a&gt; next Wednesday.   This will be a great opportunity to interact with a real CIO as well as other industry professionals.

Mark Sulzen has been with SmartDraw.com since June 2000 and serves as chief information officer. He is responsible for all information technology infrastructure at SmartDraw.com and has designed several of the key systems that have contributed to the company&#039;s success. He has over 15 years of management and technical experience and an extensive history of architecting technology solutions to drive key business metrics.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Prior to SmartDraw.com, he has held positions as chief technology officer, IT director, technical marketing manager, and web development manager while working for several technology companies including Novell, ITI International, and as a consultant.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Mr. Sulzen holds a bachelor&#039;s of science degree in business information systems from the University of Phoenix. He also serves as the president of the San Diego Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
